Director’s Message
I am pleased to welcome you to the CSWRI Avi-Products Portal, the official platform showcasing innovations, technologies, and value-added products developed by the ICAR-Central Sheep & Wool Research Institute (CSWRI), Avikanagar. This portal reflects our commitment to bringing research innovations directly to farmers, entrepreneurs, and industry partners, making CSWRI’s technologies accessible and market-ready.
CSWRI, an ISO 9001:2015 certified institute, is one of India’s leading centers of animal science under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. For over six decades, the Institute has advanced sheep, goat, and rabbit farming, enhancing productivity, profitability, and sustainability — crucial for small and marginal farmers across diverse agro-climatic regions.
Our research focuses on genetic improvement, nutrition, reproductive technologies, disease management, and value addition to wool and meat products. Indigenous breeds such as Malpura, Chokla, Patanwadi, Magra, and Marwari, along with institute-developed breeds like Avishaan, Bharat Merino, Avikalin, and Gaddi Synthetic, have been significantly enhanced through scientific breeding. Rabbit husbandry has also progressed through selective breeding and improved management.
The Avi-Products Portal connects CSWRI innovations with stakeholders, offering feed innovations, wool-based products, reproductive and thermal technologies, health management tools, and other value-added solutions. Through training programs, demonstrations, mobile advisories, and the Agribusiness Incubation Centre (ABIC), CSWRI fosters technology dissemination, capacity building, and entrepreneurship.
With visionary guidance from ICAR and the dedication of our scientific and administrative staff, CSWRI remains committed to sustainable small ruminant production, rural livelihoods, and eco-friendly livestock-based enterprises. I invite all stakeholders — farmers, entrepreneurs, researchers, policymakers, and industry partners — to explore this portal, engage with our technologies, and help shape a resilient and sustainable future for India’s sheep and wool sector.
